The former NSA employee Edward Snowden currently fleeing from the US government and requesting asylum in Russia has been sending emails back and forth with people from the press and governments from other countries, but how do you keep your emails private and encrypted if the US government is trying to track you down with everything they have? There is speculation that Edward has been using Lavabit a encrypted mailing service. The email is encrypted and gets send to the appropriate Lavabit mail server then only the person who has the appropriate password can decrypt the message.
